Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2025

VisualHFT is a desktop analytics platform for market microstructure. We analyze markets, not people. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.

1. Who we are & how to contact us

Questions or privacy requests: privacy@visualhft.com.

2. What this policy covers

  • The VisualHFT desktop app and optional diagnostics.
  • Our support channels (e.g., ticketing/knowledge base) when you contact us.
  • It does not cover third-party market data providers you connect to from within VisualHFT (you remain responsible for those vendor terms).

3. What we don't collect by default

  • We do not ingest your trading/order flow or market data streams from your machine into our servers in the normal course of operation. VisualHFT processes market data locally to compute analytics and replay features.
  • We are not a data vendor and do not supply third-party data.

4. Personal data we may collect

  1. Account/licensing data you provide to activate and use VisualHFT (e.g., name, email, seat/license details). We may verify use and licensing status.
  2. Device/usage signals necessary for licensing & security (e.g., IP, device fingerprint, timestamps) to prevent abuse and confirm entitlements.
  3. Support data if you contact us (contact details, issue description, attachments). Managed via our knowledge-base/ticket system.
  4. Diagnostics (optional) such as error/crash logs to troubleshoot stability. Logging is part of the app's technical stack (e.g., log4net configuration). You can keep diagnostics off unless needed.

5. What we use personal data for (and our basis)

  • Provide the software you requested (license activation, basic functionality). (Contract.)
  • Security, fraud prevention, and compliance (e.g., confirming permitted use; limited audit of export/data-connection events to verify EULA compliance). (Legitimate interests/legal obligations.)
  • Support & troubleshooting when you ask for help; optional diagnostics you choose to share. (Consent/contract.)

6. Data sources VisualHFT connects to

VisualHFT can connect to third-party market data providers and services via plugins/data retrievers you configure (e.g., exchanges, APIs). Those connections pull market data, not your personal data. You are responsible for your subscriptions and vendor terms.

7. Sharing & processors

We use minimal service providers to deliver licensing, support, and (if enabled) diagnostics. We do not sell personal data. We share only what's needed to operate those services and require confidentiality and security.

8. Retention

  • Licensing/entitlement logs: kept only as long as needed to administer licenses and enforce terms.
  • Support tickets: kept for the life of the account and reasonable business/legal needs.
  • Diagnostics: short retention (e.g., 30–90 days) unless a case is active.

We minimize retention consistent with our EULA's compliance/audit posture.

9. Your choices

  • Diagnostics: optional. Keep off unless you opt in for troubleshooting.
  • Support: share only what you're comfortable sharing in tickets.
  • Third-party feeds: you control which providers you connect; we don't supply market data.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data and to object or restrict certain processing. Email privacy@visualhft.com and we'll respond. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

11. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (least-privilege access, encrypted transport, limited logging) appropriate to a desktop analytics product. Where we maintain logs (e.g., export/data-connection events) for license compliance, access is restricted.

12. International transfers

If we move personal data across borders (e.g., to our service providers), we use appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law. Details available on request.

13. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in-product or by email.
